Numerous number of mobile phones are lost or stolen each year in Singapore. Mobile phones are very attractive to criminals as they are easily sold on. Mobile equipment may be stolen through criminal acts, such as assault, robberies and pick pocketing, or lost through the carelessness of the owners. However majority of these devices are never returned to their owners because, even if found, there is no way of knowing to whom they actually belong.

The Mobile Phone Secure Database, officially launched, holds details of mobile phone ownerships. The owners of mobile phones are encouraged to register their identity ownership details and intrinsic identifiers of the item, such as model serial or mobile phone IMEI numbers. Each GSM mobile phone has a unique International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI), which is used to identify the mobile phone even though the SIM card is removed or changed. Many countries have acknowledged the use of the IMEI in reducing the effect of mobile phone theft, which has increased exponentially over the last few years.

This MPSD crime prevention initiative will help recover your mobile phones or IT equipment, which will prevent loss of your important data. Criminals think twice about stealing and dealing when owners can be easily identified. This website will be updated on a regular basis on our services.
